I Was Paying $400 a Month for AI. Now It Runs on My Desk for Free 🤫

Cloud AI is rented land. The price moves, the limits move, the model changes with no warning. I put mine on a Mac mini that sits on my desk, and I am not going back.

You know that feeling when your AI coding agent gets dumber overnight and you cannot prove it? One day it nails everything. The next it is forgetting an instruction you gave it two messages ago. Same subscription. Same price. A different brain.

For months I told myself I was imagining it. I was maxing out two $200-a-month plans, and it felt like I was getting a different product depending on the day. Sometimes a model was great. Sometimes it quietly got worse and nobody sent a memo.
